In many ways, this year was all about water.
From the refilling of Medina Lake to the lifting of the drought across much of the state, rain was good for most Texans in 2015. And I was lucky enough to photograph many of those good things.
Unfortunately, I also photographed the dark side of water after Memorial Day floods decimated much of the Blanco River-hugging community of Wimberley. The force of the overnight floods was strong enough to destroy a major bridge leading into the community — lifting the roadbed off the bridge’s pilings —something I have never seen in my 17 years at the Express-News. What I saw that day became one of my most memorable images of the year.
